The founding Amelanistic retic was acquired by Pete Kahl as a wild-collected specimen in the mid-90's.  This project was later developed in conjunction with Al & Cindy Baldogo, who produced the first captive Amels in 2003.  Amelanistic (or "Amel" for short) retics are not compatible with the original tri-color Albino strain.  Characterized by a stark white body with both pastel & bold lemon yellow patterning, Amels also possess blazing red eyes and extremely white heads.  These are beautiful snakes that have done well crossed into other retic mutations, like the Tiger & Super Tiger traits.
